add command line argument "-I interface". This is handy for lookups that
return "neutral" objects (like socket urls) that have to be adapted
prior to use, but where there are several interfaces that the object could
be adapted to and you might mean any one of them.

Also while here, fix the usage message, which wasn't being displayed before.
