I thought there might not be enough contrast between those colors, but one 
would think "blue 8" and "turqoise 3" would be pretty different from each

I've updated it to use the groupings suggested.  It's gotten a little tall.  
Maybe the tools/apps and even the libraries sections could go off to the side 
above the third party section.

Yes, it definitely gives one a more immediate picture of how much ground PEAK 
covers.

I'm even less happy with the color scheme as it is now.  Actually, looking at 
it on the web page, it's really quite ugly.  Dammit Jim, I'm a programmer, 
not a graphic artist.  I've attached the source if anyone wants to tweak it
